AOL Instant Messenger shuts down after 20 years


AIM previously AOL was very popular messenger late 1990 till 2000. First AOL was launched is a desktop for Microsoft later also launched stand-alone download by American Online in May 1997.
Now parent company announced on Friday that AIM will be shut down on 15 December after 20 years in service.  Anyone who came of age with internet in the late 90s and early 2000 has lots of memories with AOL.
It was AIM who made the internet a place to hang out rather than a simple utility. AIM is first revolutionary conversation platform in human history.
AIM first provide people a place to express their selves with screen names and colorful font and you can send as many messages as you want.
With the launching of iPhone apple start a new era of smartphones. People with smartphones and batter internet shifts to modern social services like Facebook and Twitter.
AIM also tried to be moderated by it's like ICQ and iChat. But the first transfer to Mail.Ru Group and second discontinued.
The news of Discontinued is going viral on new social services like Facebook and Twitter, the services which helped to displace AIM.

AIM somehow we are going to miss you. An era came to end after 20 years.
